The February 16, 17, and 18 production of Patchwork of People, this year's Stage West '67, marks the thirty‑eighth annual Variety Show presented in a Maine Township high school. V-Shows began back in 1929 at Maine East; at that time the Variety Show was called Winter Carnival.
Maine West began production of its Variety Show, Stage West, in 1960. Since that time, themes have explored life in the past, present, and future, all around the world, and in every season of the year.
This year's V‑Show is all about people. It includes everything from children to convicts; acts contain everything from classical ballet to go‑go dancing.
Student Director Arlette Dawson '67 said, "One act that students should especially like is a dance number done to 'Psychotic Reaction.'
Patchwork of People contains several V‑Show innovations. One of these is living scenery. Instead of all the acts being performed on the level of the stage, acts will be performed at various depths and levels. Also, for the first time this year there will be a master of ceremonies.

Dance Chorus will be doing numbers with varied themes including a circus fantasy and a Western dance. The finale including the entire cast will be done to "Brotherhood of Man." Other music in the show includes "People," "Up With People," and the hauntingly beautiful "Laura's Theme."
Tickets for this theatrical production are on sale now in the bookstore and at Maria Schaefer's Music Store. All tickets for Thursday night are reserved and are $1 each. Tickets for Friday and Saturday nights are reserved and are $1.25 and $1.75. Pat Clement '67 and Bill Caddy '68 have been in charge of coordinating ticket sales.
Arlette remarked, "There's nothing a cast likes better than a full audience. Publicity is going all out, and we hope to have a packed house every night of the performances."
Arlette expressed confidence that "Even though the next few weeks will be really hectic with rehearsal schedules, I'm sure that on February 16, 17, and 18 we will have a very polished and well put together performance."
