The varsity grapplers split their last two decisions with a win over Conant on January 20, while suffering a loss to Evanston on January 21. The results of the two meets keeps the team record at .500 with five wins and five losses.
On Friday, January 20, the Warriors traveled to Conant to battle the Cougars. They emerged from the meet with a winning score of 34 to 12. Leading the Warriors to victory were Morrison, Gilmore, Szaltis, and Yates, all of whom pinned their opponents. Curtin started Maine on the right side with a win over Rose by a score of 11 to 2. Grutzius followed with a win by default in which his opponent, Vanderheyd, was hurt giving Maine the win. Christiansen beat Cougar Isenberg, while Caddy lost to Ferguson.
At 120 pounds, Dolphin of Maine beat Skoneszkc by a score of 9 to 0, but the Warriors dropped the following two matches 14 to 4 and 5 to 2. Morrison then got the first pin of the meet, after which Gilmore pinned his man and Wacker lost 9 to 0. Szaltis and Yates both pinned their opponents to end the meet. The final score was Maine West 34 and Conant 12.

The following day, Saturday, January 21, the Warriors hosted Evanston. The Wildkits journey proved successful to them as they won the meet by the score of 29 to 21.
The Warriors jumped off to an early lead with three straight pins to give them 15 points, but Williams of Evanston got back five of these points by pinning Warrior Caddy in 1:43. Maine West's Dolphin then walloped Burns of Evanston by a score of 14 to 1, but the Wildkits bounced back with a 14 to 0 win over Klein.
Evanston's Ward, last year's 133‑pound State champ, then got the fifth pin of the meet in 2:49 over Helms. The Wildkits picked up two more pins in the 145 and 154 pound weight classes. At 165 Warrior Waecker lost to Williams of Evanston by a score of 7 to 1, and Szaltis followed at 180 pounds with a loss to Evanston's Iruk. Lee Yates ended the meet, in the heavyweight division, by beating his opponent, Drayton, 5 to 2. The final score was Evanston 29, Maine West 21.
