This year's annual Scholastic Art Award Competition was held at Wieboldt's Randhurst Store in Mt. Prospect. Maine West won three out of five Hallmark Awards, 61 Gold Key Awards, 27 Blue Ribbon Awards and 41 Place Awards.
The judges select, from the 125 Gold Key Awards, 50 pieces to go to New York for further national competition. Five Hallmark Award winners also send work to compete in New York. Out of these five awards, one is selected as the most outstanding piece of art work presented in the exhibit.
The highest award, the Hallmark Award, was won by George Bethurem, William Fisher, and Gordon Shining.
Gold Key Awards went to Corliss Beizer, George Bethurem, Joan Beyer, Janice Bobernac, Barry Burgess, Cathy Condie, Mary Ann Didur, James Dillon, William Fisher, Tom Gigante, Janet Gilbertsen, Chris Gutowski, Cheryl Johnson, Gwen Jones, Bonita Junius, Karin Karner, Robert Klatt, Sharon Klatt, Kathleen Klecka, Mary Jo Lidinsky, Jayne Haun, Betty Handler, Trudy Hewes, and Beth Hoke.

The exhibit opened at Wieboldt's Randhurst Store on Saturday, February 11, 1967, and closes tomorrow.
