Pat Clement, Pete Dellegrazio
Preside Over Ski Club

Patty Clement describes herself as "five foot‑six inches tall with blond hair, brown eyes, and a big mouth," which she is usually filling with strawberry twists and Daisies as she dashes from activity to activity.

Patty is vice‑president of Ski Club and Brotherhood Society, general prom chairman for the Senior Prom, ticket chairman for V‑Show, and a member of the Student Council social committee. Besides all of this, she still has time for extra activities like going to classes and doing homework. This year her homework comes from English IVAP, French IV, Chemistry I, speech, and Senior Leaders.

The main interest in "Trisha's" life is Ski Club which she and Pete Dellegrazio organized. Some of her funniest incidents are connected with skiing. She quipped, "I entered a ski race once‑that was pretty funny!"

Skiing has, at times, proved to be rather embarrassing to "Trisha" too. During one outing with Ski Club, she, being considered rather competent, was chosen to teach some beginners. Just as she finished explaining the lesson to them and telling them to be careful, she fell down and nearly broke her thumb. "Gosh, was I embarrassed. What made it even worse was that I was the only lone to fall during the whole 'trip."

"Trisha" also enjoys sailing. She and her father often enter races. "It's fun, even though we usually do come in last. One time, though, we did really well until we went around a buoy then I very gracefully did a backward somersault out of the boat. We ended up coming in last, of course."

When she has any spare time, "Trisha" and two of her friends "Shelly" and "Kodie" enjoy taking her "super‑red Falcon" on "adventures."

There is only one thing she would like to change about herself. "I wish I wouldn't get lost so often. I can get lost going anywhere‑it's quite embarrassing. In fact, one time I got lost going from my house in Cumberland to the Des Plaines Public Library."

Only one thing really annoys Patty, ". . . people who wait for everything to come to them and don't have enough initiative to look for their own opportunities.''

Patty has some very ambitious plans for her future. Next year she will be attending either Cornell University or the University of Illinois to work toward a degree in political science. After college she hopes to perhaps join the Peace Corps and then pursue a career in the diplomatic field.

She also said she wants to "Marry a rich man."

Pete Dellegrazio, 5' 9" senior, is also one of this week's personalities. Pete, an active senior, is president of both Brotherhood Society and Ski Club. He is also vice‑president of the Suburban District Student Council and a member of the Pep Club.

"One of the best things about Maine West is the teachers and the administrative staff, and one of the most important things is the communication between the teachers and the students," Pete said. He also added that "The relations between one student and another could be improved greatly by doing away with the cliques."

Pete includes as his hobbies skiing, swimming, and working with the Student Council and Brotherhood Society. In what little spare time he does manage to find, Pete plays his guitar or does "anything else that comes into my mind."

"I would like to see the Student Council and the Brotherhood Society do away with all popularity contests. This would help school spirit a lot."

Pete related that the only things he doesn't like about Maine West are the attitudes of the students toward academics, spectator participation, and school spirit. His personal pet peeves are people who refer to him as Jerry Lewis and the attitude of some of the students toward participating in school sports.

As his most embarrassing moment Pete lists the time he "was working downtown as an elevator operator and got my head stuck in the door."

This year Pete is enrolled in English IVW, economics, business data processing, and government classes. English is his favorite class.
