In the next three days the Maine West Warrior basketball team will embark on two games that will largely determine the success of their season. Tonight the cagers of Coach Gaston Freeman will do battle with the Wildcats of Wheeling to determine if the Warriors are to grab sole possession of third place in the Mid‑Suburban League. Then the bucketmen will travel to Maine South for the opening game in the State Regional Tournament. Ranked fourth in the tournament, the Warriors are paired with the Conant District champion.
Immaculate Conception is ranked first in the Conant District and with good reason as they have compiled a 19 and two season mark. Their big gun is a 5' 10" guard Morgan who regularly pours through 25 points a game. The Warriors will play at 8:30 this Monday evening against the winner of the District at Maine South.

Prospect last Saturday. The Warriors fell before the scoring and rebounding of Prospect's two mammoths, Tom Lunstedt and Dave Kingman, 82 to 54.
Prospect jumped off to an 8 to 0 lead that was finally snapped by a Ken Mach free throw; however, the score went steadily against the Warriors as Lunstedt and Kingman hit 51 points between them. Al Fritz turned in a creditable game against the Knights, but his 16 points could not stem the flood that flowed heavily in Prospect's flavor.
Last Friday the Warriors were much more successful in a battle with the Conant Cougars whom the Warriors led 38 to 18. The Warriors continued on to post a 65 to 42 triumph. Harry Tistle led Maine in the contest with six free throws and six field goals for a total of 18 points.
Two weeks ago Maine snatched a victory from the Mid‑Suburban leader, Arlington, on a free throw by Al Fritz with four seconds left in the game.
