Track Team Drops Meet To Evanston

The Maine West track team, after canceling its first three meets of the year, due to the weather, finally met an opponent, Evanston, on the athletic field. Evanston, State champion for the past two years, allowed the Warriors of Maine West to capture only one first place in the entire meet. Lee LaBadie came in first in the mile event. Evanston dominated the entire meet with its powerful team. Warriors Richter and Hammer placed second in the high and low hurdles, respectively. Doug Chase finished second in the two‑mile race while Jim Mueting gave Maine a second place in the pole vaulting event. Lusk and Hammer both finished third in the high hurdles and 880‑yard events respectively. The Warriors lost the meet by a score of 19 to 90.

The sophomore track team lost to Evanston by a score of 14 to 95. The sophomores were unable to capture a single first place in the entire meet, coming up with second places in both the high and low hurdles by Bobbit and Marrinson in the high jump.

The little Warriors were able to place in every event and finished with the best score of all the track teams, losing to Evanston 23 to 83.
