Blond, blue‑eyed Norm Hudson is this week's Warrior of the West. Norm is a lanky 6' 1" tall.
Norm has acquired two letters in swimming, and he hopes to earn another this year. About the swimming team he declared, "This has been one of the best seasons I've ever known our team to have!"
Norm has learned through participation that "Team spirit is very important, even in individual events in particular sports."
When asked what the hardest part of training is, Norm replied, "All training is hard. You can't expect it to be easy." His advice to boys out for swimming is "Don't cheat yourself by not putting out your whole self."
Norm's favorite sport is swimming "because of the opportunity for individual achievement and the privilege to work with a team."

Norm feels very strongly about school spirit. He believes that students should take an outside job only if necessary, so that they will have the time to attend and participate in school sponsored activities. "Take the time to enjoy yourself while you can!" is Norm's motto.
Norm thinks the most outstanding thing about Maine West is its academic programs, especially those of math and science.
Although much time must be devoted to practice, Norm makes the high honor roll by "disciplining myself to sit down and do what must be done." He hopes to attend Harvard University.
"Students who do a job halfway" is Norm's pet peeve. In other words, "It's better not to do anything at all than to do something poorly."
In the future Norm plans to pursue a career in the field of scientific research.
