Craig Attends Institute

Craig Dudczak '69 recently attended a speech institute on a scholarship provided by the Kiwanis Club.

The institute was held at Illinois State University in Normal and lasted for three weeks. Craig had lessons in voice and diction, public speaking, and debate. He also had a chance to participate in some debate tournaments held there.

The activities at the institute, however, were not totally academic. The students attended plays and had picnics along with many other recreational activities.
Craig contends, "I enjoyed my stay at Illinois State's institute so much that I intend to attend a similar institute next year. Not only were there many people I knew from the Chicago area, but many from downstate and other parts of the country."

Craig received this annually awarded scholarship because of his accomplishments and efforts on the Debate Team last year. He won two first place speakers trophies, and the Maine West Debate Team won a first place trophy for the first time in its history.
