VOL. IX, NO. 1
SEPEMBER 29, 1967
Welcome new and old subscribers to good ol' Maine West and me, Morfit!

It looks like the summer months have really warped our thinking machines. I see lots of freshmen roaming around in a complete daze. Even June Sherwood gets lost! Poor soul!

I sure hope you're all participating' in the sports and clubs we have to offer. There's a new club this year started by Ken Helfers. He calls it "Babysitting for Girls." Mind if I join, Ken?

But beware; these sports are rough! Have you seen Mrs. Rowlee? She has a severe case of aches and pains from playing baseball.

Oh, and how about that fantastic act by John Szaltis! Did you notice that during one of the plays of the first football game he stood up and almost lost his pants? Hmmm, maybe he just wanted an extra big rah rah from Dave Larson and his cheering squad.

Hey, Ellen Sangster, Joy Carley, Kathy Altergott, Sue Boeldt, Peggy Kurtz, and Lori Gates, what's all this about wearing a brown dress every day? Is it the new fad?

Speaking of fads, I see that we still have some Morfit fans with long hair. Thanks, guys, you're real true blue!

Hey, aren't some of the TV programs great? Notice Lassie is still on? I hear in sixth period Mr. Norris discusses why he dislikes "Dream Girl '67" and is all in favor of "Password." But, he sure is goofed up when it comes to "Mission: Impossible." Mr. Norris, why not ask Gail Greenwald or Mary Gardner - they think the show's even better than "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." Even Mrs. Rowlee checks up with her students on how many watch her favorite show, "Star Trek."

Tom and Gunnar Svenson's friends say their Florida suntans will last all year. Howdayeh reckon that? Maybe their secret is QT!

Connie Stecher, I think we'd better watch those evenings in London! But if you never know what to say about them, just say "scratch"-that's the big word in Debbie Lee's vocabulary.

Hope you've all noticed we have two "Lawyers" teaching at Maine West this year. Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. (formerly Miss Van Ness) Lawyer!

Now, friends, how about helping me and the Phynques out? There's a box by the Attendance Office that's for you to put in signed suggestions or a signed something that my Phynques may have missed. Please use it!
