Sports Slants

By MIKE WISNIEWSKI

Starting next year Maine West's first game of the year will be a non-Conference game with Arlington. Due to the traveling distance which Peoria travels to play us and we to play to them, we will no longer play Peoria in the first game of the year.

In Friday's game Glenbrook North displayed great "sportsmanship" throughout the game.

Their great determination to do so was shown by these examples. First, they ran Bob Banger 10 yards out of bounds over the Maine West bench and then threw him to the ground.

Then they racked up Banger after he had already gotten rid of the ball.
Finally, in a burst of generosity two Spartans piled on top of him after the referee had blown his whistle. A true tribute to the Spartans love of the game.

One of Maine's problems seems to its inability to complete the point after attempts; so far we've missed five of our PATs. The one missed in Friday's game cost us the victory.

Maine's new Conference is reputed to be the best balanced Conference in the state. It surely will be a feather in our bonnet if we can pull off the Conference championship of our new league.

The Warriors next two games are away, and then we have the Homecoming game against Glenbrook South.
