| This week's Warrior in the spotlite is blue-eyed, brown haired Lee LaBadie. He is 5'8" and weighs 125 pounds. Lee's favorite sport is track because he likes running the mile best. He's lettered six times: three in cross country and three in rack. This harrier went downstate in his sophomore year and placed seventh in the mile. Then in his junior year Lee placed second in the mile with a time of 4:13.4. He feels his best run was against Dave Calvert in the mile downstate last year. He broke the State record. "We'll probably win Conference this year" was Lee's outlook for the team. His advice to any boy coming out for a sport is to stick with it. "A guy shouldn't give up at any time. If you come out for a sport, don't disappoint everyone involved by quitting." Lee feels the hardest part of training is to do what the coach tells him to do. This Warrior can't understand how he keeps his grades up and manages to get his studying done with all the practicing he does. |
To keep in shape Lee ran two miles a day during the summer. He feels this is necessary to earn a scholarship. His first preference is Illinois State University. Lee wants to make money and plans to be a millionaire some day. "Phil Martin and I were goofing around while practicing running, and we both fell in a ditch and got soaked" was Lee's remark about his funniest incident. He thinks school spirit could be improved if more fellows on the team would get girlfrieinds. Then there would be better attendance at games. Lee always has a pencil stuck behind his ear and is always saying "son of a gun." His pet peeve is conceited people. Lee enjoys running very much and hopes he'll have good luck in college. Lee has his future planned. He wants to go to college and get a very good education and then work hard to make that million. |
