M-Club Rides Again Smack Into Walt

The Maine West M-Club had a very successful but embarrassing Donkey Basketball game at the Maine East field house on February 26. The opposing faculty squad came from behind in the second half to beat the M-Clubbers by the score of 24-18. The game was witnessed by a crowd which was quite large. Over 400 tickets were sold at the door alone.

The two teams, more used to "riding each other" than donkeys, had to first get accustomed to the transportation given them. This went on, while the fans roared their delight. The M-Club's 14 players, coached by Bob Banger and Dan Christensen, went ahead to score 14 points, compared to the faculty's two.
At halftime, however, the teams had to exchange animals. Although the donkeys remained on the bottom to avoid confusion, the M-Club's new mounts felt that it behooved themselves to stick to the outside of the key instead of going up the middle, where most of the scoring can be done. As a result, the faculty was able to "burrow" up their opponent's defense and score.

As the crowd watched anxiously, the M-Club's worthy opponents, the faculty, started a drive which resulted in the students being on the tail end of a 24-18 score.

The boys were understandably disappointed, for they have a hard time getting the better of their mentors either in or out of the classroom. Nevertheless, it was a game to be remembered and one which all the players got a big kick out of.
