| This week's featured player is 6', 160-pound, blond-haired, blue-eyed senior Jim Mueting. Jim has been on track and football teams for four years and has earned three letters in track and one in football. "Cheeses" is a pole vaulter; and he believes, "We need indoor facilities for field events such as shot putting and pole vaulting." Jim admitted that staying in shape was difficult without pole vaulting facilities here at school. In Jim's opinion "The new field house will promote school spirit." Jim confessed that Deerfield and New Trier were the toughest in Conference. Jim boasted that "Maine has a good chance of sending some of the boys down state." "Cheeses' " best record in pole vaulting is 13'9". He came in eighth in State his junior year. |
Maine took fourth in the Pro-viso West tournament and won the Maine Triangular. Also Maine has achieved the varsity field house record, the Maine East relay record, and the Blue Demon relay. Jim claimed that freshman and sophomore pole vaulters are needed; and if one goes out for track, he should "work hard and stay with it." Jim's courses include conservation, government, English IVW, psychology for living, business data processing, and business math. Jim feels the coaches are the best because "They help you even when you aren't in a sport." Jim has already received offers for scholarships and is thinking about going to the University of Illinois in Urbana. |
