| This year's parents of the incoming freshmen attended the traditional orientation program April 2, at 8 p.m. Mr. Wayne Rosenquist, director of guidance, began the evening with a discussion concerning the triangular responsibilities of the school, students, and parents. Afterwards, the parents joined the specified counselors in various study halls. The orientation explained the high school program, the variety of courses offered, and course placement. Extra curricular activities and the summer school program were also discussed. Mr. Bruce Erickson, counselor, believes, "The orientations are very beneficial to the parents and the students." He continued, "I consider this year no exception." |
As a result of the orientation, the parents can now feel free to call the counselors whenever they have any questions. This program presented the many jobs of the counselors and their interest in the students and parents. Future freshmen attended a similar orientation last Monday and Tuesday in their junior high schools. Because of limited space, the parents and the students could not be orientated together. Graduates of these junior high schools will comprise the Class of 1972. This class, numbering 925, will be the largest Freshman Class ever to enter Maine West. |
