April 4 Marks Beginning Of S.C. Election Week |

| Election Week for the 1968-69 Student Council officers got underway yesterday, April 4, with the opening of the campaign headquarters. It will continue through Monday, April 8. The newly elected officers will be announced at the Election Jitney. Candidates for president include Randy Rann, whose campaign manager is Carolyn Hummel, and Bob Aulert, whose campaign manager is Bill Adair. Vying for the position of secretary are Linda Wesolowski, with campaign manager Bonnie Witzl, and Marilyn Kalata, with campaign manager Lee Rodin. Campaign headquarters for Bob Aulert are at the home of Bill Adair at 1380 Walnut and at his own home at 1936 Orchard. Randy Hann has his at Carolyn Hummel's at 1801 Stockton and at Scott Doherty's at 1338 Jeannette. Linda Wesolowski is holding her headquarters at Cathy Leer's at 1051 Jeannette, Diana and Honora Quinn's at 714 Rose, and at Birgit and Jim Lonergan's at 150 Ardmore. Headquarters for Marilyn Kalata are at the homes of Barb Goodey at 33 North Meyer, Bob Von Gyurcsy at 1563 Ellinwood, and Steve Waecker at 1715 Illinois. |
The candidates and their campaign managers will be introduced to the various classes on Monday, April 8, during first, second, third, and seventh periods. During the assemblies the students will be able to ask the candidates any questions they might have. Voting will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, April 10 and April 11. Students will be able to vote before and after school and during lunch periods. The polls will close Thursday at 1:16 p.m. IBM cards will be used for ballots. The Election Jitney will be held on April 11 at 8 p.m. in the cafeteria. It is hoped that a name combo can be obtained to play at the Jitney. Organization committee chairman, Jody Kinder '69, commented, "We feel that more people will come if a popular combo plays." Both Randy and Bob hope to improve and help Student Council. "I would like to establish a better relationship between the students and Student Council, to encourage students to assist in improving whatever they don't like about Student Council," remarked Randy Hann. Bob Aulert commented, "I hope to get the students better acquainted with the administration and also to obtain more privileges for the students after we have proved ourselves worthy of them." |
