President's Council Begins To Organize Future Plans

The first meeting of the newly organized President's Council was held on March 15. The Council includes all club presidents, class presidents, and heads of school publications. Sponsored by Mr. A. K. H. Cochrane and Miss June Thompson, the five meetings previously held have given presidents a new outlook toward their individual club problems.

During their first meeting the students were served dinner and were given a basic outline of the Council's purpose. The presidents were then given a chance to discuss the effectiveness of such a Council and what they felt could be accomplished.

Meetings will be held every two weeks with either a dinner served or an informal snack of cokes and cookies. Most programs will allow open
discussion for individual club problems. There will also be speakers on "Group Dynamics" and other subjects of interest to the group. Other than club problems, the Council also discusses clubs in relation to the school as a whole and how they can help each other.

Many ideas are now being taken into consideration by the Council. First of all, club elections were discussed for this year. Council suggested that a written guide by the club's present officers be given to the new officers to help orient them for their job. Another idea presented was for a "rush week" in the fall to arouse interest for new members for all clubs.

Presidents elected in the spring may accompany the current officers to the Council meeting. This will help officers to plan future drives with combined club effort rather than one club alone.
