G.A.A. Says

Over 50 girls from Maine South, Maine East. and Maine West participated in the tri-school event last week.

The Sophomore Classes from all Maine schools took first place by 32 points. Second place winners were the freshmen by 18 points. The seniors were in third place, and the juniors came in fourth.

Nancy Harms '71 is in second place in all-around events. Tina Kaneen '70 is fourth in the balance beams, and Chris Clausen '70 took second in the uneven parallel bars.

Junior High Play Day is coming April 20. All eighth grade girls from junior high schools in the area are invited to attend this event from 9 to 11 am. This is to introduce the Maine West and G.A.A. programs.

Six girls will join Miss Judy Coddington, sponsor, in an all day clinic to be held on the University of Illinois campus on April 27. These girls are Renee Gatsis '68, Diane Franzen '68, Marilyn Coombs '69, Jo Hynes '69, Jean Gradl '69, and Diane Clarke '69.
G.A.A. awards can be obtained, April 22 and after, from any gym teacher or the Personnel Office.

Applications for sport head positions and for the G.A.A. scholarship will be available April 22. In order to apply for sport head, a girl must be interested in the sport for which she applies and be willing to accept the responsibilities it involves.

To be eligible to apply for the scholarship, a girl must be a senior, have been accepted at a college, and be a member of G.A.A.

Both Peggy Loebach '68, first singles, and Nancy Novonty '69, second singles, are undefeated in conference play.

If the team can beat Maine South next Tuesday, they will be eligible to participate in the play-offs between the top two teams in the Western division and the top two teams in the Eastern division.
