Art Students To Sponsor Festival of Arts May 10 |
|||||||||
| The annual Festival of Fine] Arts will be held in the Maine West auditorium on Friday. May 10. The exhibits will be composed of "outstanding student work created in the Art Department during the '67-'68 year," assured Mr. George Blanas, chairman of the Art Department. The entire faculty has been invited and requested to bring their classes to view these exhibits during the second through the ninth periods on Friday. Mr. Blanas believes that "Many faculty members will respond." It will not be open to individual students during their study periods. Also during the evening from 7-10 the public is invited. Any students who missed it during the day are also welcome. There will be no admission charge. Ceramics, drawings, graphics, sculptures, textiles, paintings, art history presentations, architectural city plans, and various demonstrations will be |
included in the program. Among the 300-400 pieces which will be shown, many will be from the 1968 Scholastic Art Award winning pieces which were shown at Wieboldt's in Randhurst. The pieces will be taken from Art I, II, III, and IV classes, Crafts I and II, and the sketching classes. Instructors of these classes are Mrs. Jean Sambo, Mr. Earl Meitzner, Mr. Eugene Patrizi, Mr. Mark Mattson, and Mr. George Blanas. Two professional artists will exhibit artwork and demonstrate. Mr. Ralph Arnold, a Chicago painter, will exhibit collages and paintings throughout the evening. Mr. Win Jones, instructor at Northern Illinois University, will also exhibit paintings and demonstrate water colors. "I feel it will be outstanding," commented Mr. Blanas. "There will be great variety and something offered for everyone. Student, friends, and parents are welcome in the evening. It will be quite exciting!" |
