| Juniors and Seniors will at-tend a special driver education assembly on Tuesday, May 21. The program, "Music for Modern Americans," featuring the Spurrlows is a part of the Driver Education curriculum this year. Highlights in the program are current hits, folk songs, comedy, a safety skit, and a safety song. The first assembly will be held at 8:30 a.m. for seniors, and the juniors will attend the second at 9:15. Maine West's "Festival of Art" was held on Friday, May 10. The exhibits included: ceramics, drawing, painting, graphics, sculpture, and textiles. Some pieces were formerly on display at Randhurst. Two visiting artists were Mr. Ralph Arnold, Chicago artist and painter; and Mr. Winn Jones, professional painter and water colors. The art instructors responsible for the fine display of students artwork are Mrs. Jean Sambo, Mr. Mark Mattson, Mr. Earl Meitzner, Mr. Eugene Patrizi, and Mr. George Blanas, Art Department chairman. |
Pep Club elections were held on May 13, 14, and 15 during lunch period in the cafeteria. Val Martin '70 and Sue Winn '70, president; Rocky Alonge '70 and Beth Brisky '70, vice-president; Jan Oldfield '69 and Jan Spear '69, secretary; Nancy Hansen '70 and Bobbie Niemz '69, treasurer, were the candidates. All the qualifications were listed on the ballot for members. Then, Thursday, May 16, Pep Club held its annual awards dessert after school in the cafeteria. The new board was then announced. A car wash will be held this Saturday, May 18, at Maine West; the price is $1. Linda Larsen '68, captain of Pom-Pon Squad, has announced that the Pom-Pon clinic begins on Monday, May 20. Pom-Pon tryouts are open to all interested girls. Monday, May 20, and Tuesday, May 21, will be clinics; preliminary tryouts are scheduled for Wednesday, May 22. Another clinic will be open to preliminary finalists on Thursday, and the finals will be held on Friday, May 24. All tryouts are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. in C-wing gym. Twelve girls will be selected for next year's Pom-Pon Squad. Student Council members will hold their banquet on Friday, May 24. The location is Heuer's Restaurant at 7 p.m. Several |
