Diane Heads Pep Council

"Can you imagine getting your earring caught on the collar of your dress in the middle of a chemistry lecture?"

This was Diane Kaminski's only explanation of her most embarrassing moment.

"Di" is president of Pep Club, in Student Council, a senior leader, on the President's Council, and an advisor to the Northern Illinois Pep Club Association.

As president of Pep Club, Diane, or "Ugly" as she is kiddingly referred to, presides over all Pep Club, Pep Council, and Spirit Senate meetings. She coordinates the different committees of Pep Council as the coordinating head. She also represents the Maine West Pep Club in any large association meetings.
Among Diane's "loves" are saying, "Are you kidding me?" folk and pop music, going to the beach, and horseback riding. She "hates" people who don't smile, people who don't care about the school, and people who are always telling her that she’s blushing.

Diane advises, "Become ac-tive in whatever interests you and whatever you like best. This is the only way that you can become part of Maine West."

To change Maine West, Diane wishes that the teachers would be a little more enthusiastic about all the events of the school."

Diane feels that Pep Club "promotes spirit in the school and unites the student body, not only in supporting athletic events, but also the class play or the Debate Team."

Her future plans include attending Evanston Nursing Hospital in order to become a nurse. Diane now works as a dental assistant.
