Sermon Gives Hints For Successful Life

Yesterday, June 2. the 1968 graduating class of Maine West attended their Commencement Sermon held in the Maine East field house at 8 p.m.

The service began with the processionals, "Pomp and Circumstance" by Elgar and Robert's "Pomp and Chivalry," both of which were skillfully executed by the Commencement Orchestra under the direction of Mr. Robert Kuite.

Then the Reverend Francis J. Buck of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church gave the invocation which was followed by a scripture reading presented by the Reverend John H. Draisma of the First Christian Reformed Church of Des Plaines.
Before the sermon, "Your Life Must Count," delivered by the Reverend Mark G. Bergman of Trinity Lutheran Church, Mr. Wilbur Schafer conducted the Commencement Concert Choir in the hymn, "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God."

The whole congregation joined in singing Heber-Dyke's hymn, "Holy, Holy, Holy," after which Reverend Draisma gave the benediction.

The audience remained attentive until the Commencement Orchestra had completed the recessionals of Verdi's "Grand March" from Aida and Meyerbeer's "Coronation March" from The Prophet.
