Top Seniors Receive Recognition |

| The 1968 Senior Honors Assembly was held this morning in the auditorium. At this time the Academic, Departmental, and Good Will Awards were presented. The top Academic Awards were presented to 14 people. Don Maruska is the valedictorian. The salutatorian is Ann Jackson. Both of these people will give an address at the Commencement Exercises on Friday night. During the assembly 19 Departmental Awards were presented. The Art Department Awards went to Gordon Shirling and Jean Spindler. Shirley Crawford and Dorothy Vrastiak received awards from the Business Education Department. The two students chosen from the English Department were Jane Engle and Franklin Grange. Marilyn Dickert received the Home Economics Award. The Industrial Education Department presented its awards to John Mattson and Michael Schimka. Two girls were chosen from the Language Department. They were Janis Rome and Patricia Shall. The Mathematics Department presented awards to Philip Schug and Frank Schulz. Robert Schwenke was the choice of the Music Department. The Boys' Physical Education Department Award went to John Houston while the Girls' Physical Edcuation Department chose Linda Wells. The Science Department chose John Carlson. Mary Ann Jados was chosen by the Social Science Department. The Speech Arts Award was given to Robert Connelly. |
Good Will Awards were presented to students who have shown good citizenship both in and outside of school. These people were nominated by the senior homeroom teachers and voted upon by the entire Senior Class and the faculty. Good Will Awards were presented to David Abbott, Robert Banger, Joan Beyer, William Caddy, Linda Dolphin, Randall Jackson, Bruce Kaechele, Lee LaBadie, Allan Long, Robert Mack, Diana Quinn, Ellen Sangster, Linda Wells, and Bonnie Witzl. An Honorary Good Will Award was presented to the foreign exchange student Abdelilah Hachimi from Morocco. Junior National Honor Society members made up the honor guard participating in this morning's assembly. They will also be present at the Commencement Exercises on Friday night. These members are Jill Anderson, Steve Baenziger, James Birchfield, Sandra Bishop, Gregory Caravelli, John Doyle, Donna Ellwanger, Scott Ferraiolo, Darlene Frank, and Dorothy French. Others are Laura Frey, Darlene Fricano, Eileen Goelz, Randy Hann, Judith Henk, Nancy Johnsen, Monica Keane, Kurt Krebs, and Donald Kruse. Still others are Sandra Lauffenburger, Nancy Lilja, Robert Lumpp, Drake Mertes, Beth Miller, Janet Moranz, Carol Rohde, James Sorensen, Janice Thain, and Alan Utes. |
