Maine West To Present Play |
|||||||||
| See Viv Geiger as an old maid! See Bob Connelly as a middle-aged man who thinks he's Theodore Roosevelt! See all the cast in Maine West's second annual all-school play, Joseph Kesselring's three-act comedy, Arsenic and Old Lace. Students have only one more week to get tickets for the October 20 and 21 performances in the auditorium. Tickets will continue to be sold by drama students in the cafeteria and Bookstore for $1 (no reserved seats) until Thursday, October 19. Tickets will also be available at the door. Chosen September 14 and 15 and in rehearsal for nearly a month, the cast members are Viv Geiger '68 as Abby Brewster, Lorrie Ware '68 as Martha Brewster, Bob Connelly '68 as Teddy, Bob Aulert '69 as Mortimer, Rich Wilson '69 as Jonathan, Bill Jacobs '70 as Dr. Einstein, and Steve Cornelius '68 as O'Hara. |
Also in the cast are Scott Hayward '70 as Gibbs, Mike Witt '70 as Klein, Ron Scheumann '68 as Brophy, Ron Colberg '68 as Rooney, and Jim Konopacz '70 as Dr. Witherspoon. The part of Elaine is double-cast: Karin Karner '68 will appear Friday, and Gail Peters '69 will appear Saturday. The play, which Mr. Garth Boyer, director, describes as "one of the funniest and most enjoyable and popular plays for high schools, colleges, community theaters, and professional groups," deals with the pastime of two appealing old spinsters. They murder old men. Complicating matters are Mortimer, desperately trying to protect his aunts from the police, and Teddy, who thinks he's Theodore Roosevelt. Student director for the Thespian Society production is Peg Heller '68. Assisting her is Pam Osburn '68. Any problems yet? According to Bob Connelly, president of Thespian Society, "Our biggest problems have been developing Irish accents for the policemen and obtaining period furniture." |
