Homecoming Plans Add New Sparkle

For the first time, the annual Homecoming dance will be held in the auditorium on October 14, from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. The auditorium will be decorated appropriate to the theme, "The Sound of Victory."

Tickets are now on sale in the cafeteria at $2 per couple, and attire is Sunday best. Refreshments of punch and donuts will be served in the auditorium. There will also be a combo to play both slow and fast music.

Float building began October 7 and ended October 12, and all floats centered around the theme, "Movies." Students who offered their homes as float headquarters were Sue Odom, Senior Class; Debbie Fowler, Junior Class; Debbie Paulin, Sophomore Class; and Debbie Ritchie, Freshman Class.

Float building also took place at the homes of Val Martin, Pom-Pon and Pep Club; Linda Douglas, French Club; and Bob Brown, Band. Tony Tosterud acted as floats chairman.

The parade will begin today at 2 p.m. at Lake Opeka and will travel up Lee to Thacker where it will be met by the Band.

At the Post Office the Band will disperse, and the floats will continue to the school.
Preceding the parade, at 1:25 p.m. in the stadium a pep rally will be held which all students are required to attend. At the rally, the Homecoming Court will be presented; Pom-Pon Squad will perform; and there will be speakers from the football team and the cross country team. Sponsoring the pep rally is Pep Club.

Then, at 6 p.m., Maine's Homecoming game will be played for the first time under the lights. At this time the junior varsity will play Glenbrook South's Titans, and at 8 p.m. the varsity will play. During halftime the Queen and her Court will be presented, and judging of the floats will take place.

Sheila Quinn '67, Pat Silk '66, and Sandy Kunkle '65, past Homecoming Queens, will also be present at the halftime ceremony at the invitation of the Senior Class, Homecoming sponsor.

Saturday afternoon, October 14, from 2 to 4 p.m., an Alumni Tea will take place at school. The tea will be open to all students and alumni. Refreshments will be served, and the Burgundy Trio will provide the entertainment. School attire is appropriate.
