Intramurals

The Intramural tennis tournaments have now been completed with the following results: in the Senior Class tournament Bob Von Gyurcsy took top honors beating out Bill Markworth in the final game.

The Junior Class tournament was also played with the title being taken by Drake Mertes who beat out Tom Tyler in the final game.

The Sophomore Class tourna-ment saw Ron Finstead beat Tim Wyman in a close game.

The Senior Class tournament was won by Coach Carlini's first period class. Members of the team were Jeff Cline, Paul Fredrickson, Rudy Kruse, Glenn Mirocha, Mike Giesel, and Ken Clark.

The Junior Class football tournament has been completed with Coach Jorndt's ninth period class taking their championship game by a score of 39-0. In taking their three games Coach Jorndt's ninth period boys scored a total of 111 points to six for their opponents.

Two of their games were shut outs of their opponents. Members of the winning team were Gary Curtin, Kevin
Sherwood, Bob Moelling, Ken Luebke, Steve Hurtt, Tom Vanderwaner, and Greg Reinhardt.

The sophomore and freshman tournaments still have to be played during the next two weeks.

Mr. Miley Hotchkiss, director of Intramurals, would like to remind all of the students of the upcoming Intramural cross country meet to be held on October 17. The first five finishers from each class will be awarded badges. This is a good chance to show your running ability.

After the football tournaments have been completed the next fall sports event will be soccer. Last year the sport was introduced into the Intramural program for the first time. Sukru Gurel, the foreign exchange student from Turkey, participated in the games and encouraged all his friends to do so.

All a student has to do to participate is to come to the playing field the night of a game and join a team. The soccer season will start as soon as the football season is finished about the nineteenth of October.
