VOL. IX, NO. 3
OCTOBER 27, 1967

Carole Hway, Court Reign
At Homecoming

Homecoming Week '67 is now a thing of the past, but it proved to be one of the most exciting Maine has ever had.

School was let out at 1:16 p.m. Friday, October 13, but because of the inclement weather an ail school pep assembly was held in the auditorium. Mr. Herman Rider, principal, was introduced to the students, who in turn gave him a standing ovation. He spoke on the tremendous spirit at Maine West.

Jody Kinder '69, Homecoming chairman, presented the Court for the last time before the announcement of the Queen; and the halftime activities of the game were previewed.

The only disappointment of Homecoming was the calling off of the parade because of the rain which continued to fall all day.

The weather cleared up for the first Homecoming game under the lights. The sophomore game began at 6 p.m., and between the games the parade was viewed.
The Senior float took first place with "The Greatest Victory Ever Told." The Juniors' "Titan Trap" came in second, and the joint effort of Pep Club and the Pom-Pon Squad, "Up the Touchdown Staircase," took third.

Other floats entered in the parade were the Sophomores' "Titan's Last Stand," "West Can-Can Win" by French Club, and the Band's entry with the title, "Sink the Titans."

Excitement filled the air at half-time when the Court and the Queens of the past three years were led onto the field. The crowd became tense as the announcer revealed that the honor of Homecoming Queen 1967 fell to Carole Hway '68.

Homecoming Week came to an end Saturday night with the Homecoming dance entitled "Sound of Victory." The main attraction of the evening was the crowning of Carole Hway.

This was done by Greg Essig, president of the Senior Class, with the help of the crown bearer, Michelle Landry.
