Channel 11 Serves Chicago |
|||||||||
| Channel 11 is the intellectual, educational channel. Opera, travelogues, and documentaries are its "bag." Even though the high school student should realize that his cultural heritage goes back farther than the Beatles; the merits of WTTW are not being questioned here. Channel 11 has made it possible, though, for one to carefully examine problems of the community. Some of the conflicts may have no promise of solution in the near future, but PBL is willing to examine possibilities. Through PBL, Public Broadcasting Laboratory, a variety of investigations will be brought to the public at a time when one is most able to view them - |
Sunday evenings 7:30 until 9:30. Civil rights, Viet Nam, powers of Congress, and even a live musical event will be discussed or presented. All stations are potential suppliers of material. PBL, a national network, will use the studios of other stations but will supply their own producer. Funds are provided by a two-year grant from the Ford Foundation. The Westerner urges students and faculty to take an interest in these Sunday specials. Television news broadcasts mention only the obvious; radio news adds a little detail. But true insight and understanding of associated factors may be achieved by patronization of PBL. |
