Maine West Boys' Club Plans Formal, Post Office

For the past few months the Boys' Club has been busily making plans for the annual Christmas post office and Christmas Formal.

This year the post office will be in operation on December 14, 15, 18, 19, and 20. It will be located in front of the cafeteria and will be open before school and during lunch hours. Mail will be delivered to all three of the Maine schools.

Cards being sent to Maine South or Maine East must include the student's name, code number, and homeroom teacher. Copies of these schools' Dial Tones will be obtained to help in the addressing.

The cards will be delivered during homeroom periods every day according to the amount of mail for each homeroom.

The annual Christmas Formal, "Blue Frost," will be held on December 16 in the Maine West auditorium from 8:30 to 11 p.m.

The couples attending will dance to the music of Frank Derrick and his orchestra. Refreshments will be served during the dance.

The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the queen and her court and the crowning of the queen. The procedure for electing the attendants will be to have the boys nominate girls from their class. From the nominations 10 girls will be chosen to run from each class. Following these selections, the boys will vote again.
The final voting determines who the queen and the court will be. The girl from each class with the most votes is the attendant, and the two senior girls with the most votes are the queen and the senior attendant.

The cost of the dance will be $2.25 per couple. Tickets will go on sale December 11 through 15. They will be sold during lunch periods at the head of the cafeteria. As in past years, tickets will not be sold at the door.

Decorations for the dance will consist of blue and white lights throughout the auditorium to add a frosted effect to the at-mosphere. "Blue Frost" will be spelled out in lights over the back of the stage.

Money left over from the dance will go into the Boys' Club treasury for future use.

The dance can be attended by alumni as well as Maine West students. Each couple must have an identification card with them.

Committee chairmen in charge of planning the dance are Max Elsey '68, decorations; John Thvedt '68, publicity; and Jim Thompson '68, refreshments. Preparations for the dance are being supervised by the Boys' Club sponsors, Mr. James Killam and Mr. James Gary.

Boys' Club president, Larry Kahler '68, stated that he wants everyone to come out for the dance. He added, "It has been a great success in past years, and we feel it will be even more so this year."
