Faculty To Attend
Christmas Tea

The sound of familiar Christmas carols and the tantalizing aroma of Wassail will greet the members of the faculty and staff at the Home Economics Department Tea.

The tea, which has been held by the Home Economics Department every year since the opening of Maine West, will be held this year on the fourteenth and nineteenth of December, from 1:15 to 4:30 p.m.

Refreshments, to be prepared by the students in the foods classes, will include Christmas cookies, fruit bread, fruit cake, coffee, and the traditional Wassail-a hot cider punch.

Enjoyment of the event will be enhanced by the room and table decorations to be made by the home planning and interior design class.

Mrs. Mildred Heidorn, directing a string ensemble, and Mr. Wilbur Schafer with the Choraliers will provide the entertainment during the afternoon. The music will include well known Christmas carols.

Mrs. Lucille Stiles, head of the Home Economic Department, commented about the tea, "I think that the Home Economics Department looks forward
each year to the occasion, which has become a tradition, because in addition to being a pleasant social event, it's a good learning situation for the students."

Assisting Mrs. Stiles as hostesses in the living rooms in C-106 and A-106 will be the other Home Economics Department teachers: Mrs. Gertrude Gillette, Miss Norma Benner, Mrs. Elizabeth Bryant, Miss Katherine Gore, Mrs. Katherine Hofmann, Miss Suzanne Horgen and Miss Patricia Olson.

As an additional expression of holiday good wishes, all members of both the faculty and staff will be presented with a gift. The gift will be a book containing numerous Christmas recipes and decorating ideas. Some of the decorations based upon these ideas will be displayed throughout the rooms.

All members of the faculty and staff will be invited and will be the guests of the department on either of the two dates of the tea.

Among those accepting the invitation for the informal tea are Doctor Richard R. Short, superintendent of schools, Mr. Herman L. Rider, principal, and Mr. Ralph J. Frost, Jr., assistant superintendent of schools.
