Faculty 'Champs' Defend Title; M-Club Prepares for Battle |
|||||||||
| To beat or not to beat? That is the question being asked in reference to the annual M-Club-Faculty Basketball Game which will be held at Maine East this coming Wednesday. December 6, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the game will be on sale for $.50 in the cafeteria or from any M-Club member. Monty Abbott '68, president of M-Club, hinted that M-Club plans to overcome the faculty when he casually remarked, "Oh, we're gonna run 'em into the ground." How can they lose? Representing M-Club this year will be 15 players, 20 Pom-Pon girls and, to top it off, 10 cheerleaders, thus totaling 45 "leaders of tomorrow." On the other hand we look at the faculty. They will try to defend their honor against the younger and swifter athletes. Mr. Charles Lawyer, captain of the faculty team, doesn't think that these factors will present a problem. |
"We'll use our superior ability and strategy," he stated. Names of players will not be listed in order to protect the innocent. It's almost as much fun watching the spectators as the players. One hasn't lived until he's seen a beleaguered visitor trying to get out of the psycho ward, unaware this is not Lutheran General, or the confused freshman who witnesses the behavior on the court. Last year the faculty rallied from behind in the last quarter to win 55-45. A good deal more passing took place after the game than during the game. Also featured at the game will be a half-time gymnastics demonstration, providing it doesn't get squeezed out by other demonstrations. In general, then, it can be said that the game will apparently be very exciting, enjoyable, etc., and should really separate the club from the boys. |
