G.A.A. Begins Basketball Season |
|||||||||
| "Interest is very high," reports a happy Miss Mildred McManus, intramural basketball sponsor. Already 27 basketball teams have been formed in less than three weeks. Both G.A.A. members and non-members may still sign up with Miss McManus or come and play on any team after school on Mondays and Fridays. Four games, officiated by junior leaders, are played in C-wing gym from 3:55 to 4:30 p.m. on those days. Points are being taken at this activity, which will continue through the rest of this quarter. Gymnastics bugs should plan to show up every Tuesday and Friday in C-wing at 3:37 p.m. for intramural gymnastics. If they want to learn more advanced |
movements than those taught in their regular gym classes, they should come on Friday. All girls are encouraged to attend, and points will be taken. Tumbling, acrobatics, dance movements, uneven bars, and the trampoline and horse will be featured in an all-school gymnastics meet planned for the end of the third quarter. A new event is free exercise, which will also be included in a tentative scheduled in-school meet at the end of the third quarter. Another event being planned is a mother-daughter playnite on Tuesday, December 12. Students interested in working on a committee should see their gym teachers. If the November 17 playnite is any indication, this one should be a big success. Close to 100 girls attended. |
