| The Maine West Music Department ushered in the Christmas season last Friday, December 8. The Concert Band, Concert Orchestra, and all choral groups took part in this year's program. Variety was added to the concert when the band performed "Carnival of the Animals." This number featured verses by Ogden Nash narrated by Steve Cornelius '68. Twirlers Mary Ann Wallace '68 and Diane Becker '71 took part in "Mardi of the Toys." |
Girls' Club again is sponsoring its Christmas stocking project in which the whole school may take part. Last Monday each homeroom received a Christmas stocking which is to be filled with small toys or candy. On Friday, December 22, members of the Girls' Club will take these filled stockings to needy settlement houses in Chicago to bring joy to underprivileged children. A spaghetti dinner, sponsored by the Maine West Dads' Club, will be held on January 12 in Maine East's cafeteria. The dinner will be held prior to the Glenbrook South basketball game. The prices will be $1 for adults and high school students and $.50 for those under high school age. The profits from the dinner will go toward the purchase of warm-up jackets. |
