Six Students To Participate |
|||||||||
| Six Maine West students have been chosen to participate in the All-State Music Convention to be held in Peoria on January 26 and 27. The six are Frank Grange '68, Debbie Carroccio, '68, Jan Pendergrass '69, Janet Haarvig '70, Nancy Schupp '69, and Pam Osborn '68. These winners were chosen last November 18 at the District Festival in La Grange, Illinois. These students won the preliminary auditions in La Grange and will perform in Peoria with other winners from all over the state. Frank and Debbie were chosen for the band section. Frank, whose hobby is music, not only plays the tuba but also the tenor recorder, tenor banjo, and mandolin. Debbie, who was "really shocked" at winning, plays all percussion instruments and is currently taking piano lessons. |
Pam was chosen for the chorus and thinks that the convention will be a "great opportunity." During her previous years at Maine, Pam has participated in choir, Flower Drum Song, V-Show, Choraliers, the Senior Class play, and is presently Tri-M secretary. Janet Pendergass, Jan Haarvig, and Nancy Schupp were chosen for the orchestra. Jan Haarvig has participated in Aquiana, Russian Club, the Youth Orchestra of Greater Chicago, and is presently on the B-honor roll. Nancy Schupp has been involved in Pep Club, her church choir, V-Show, and has played at the Chicago Symphony Hall with the Civic Orchestra. Janet Pendergass has been kept busy as Tri-M vice-president, V-Show, and the Solo Ensemble. |
