Cheri, Bob Prepare For Variety Show

"Take advantage of extra-curricular activities because you can develop yourself as a person and learn more during the school day" is the advice of Cheri Schueler, this year's V- Show director.

This vivacious 5'l", brown haired, hazel-eyed senior is active in Aquiana, Tri-M, and Student Council Executive Board. She is also a former president and vice-president of Orchesis.

Cheri has been in show business before, participating in V-Show in her sophomore and junior years. She and her sister have a singing group which took second place at the World Teen Show at McCormick Place two years ago.

Student Council elected Cheri last spring to the position of V-Show director. She campaigned and ran against other students in Student Council.

She says that this year's V-Show should be the best we have ever had because the set design is completely different. Being used is a type of set design called flats, which are usually used for plays.

Cheri's courses this year include English IVW, Concert Choir, Chemistry I, clothing, and drama. Her favorite class is gym "because I am a Senior Leader and I like undertaking leadership. I also like it because I have a senior class, which is a challenge."

Her pet peeve was mentioned as "people who think Student Council is a farce" and "people who don't smile." She thinks the best thing about Maine West is "the opportunity to participate in after school activities and the courses available."

Cheri's hobbies include swim-ming, playing the banjo, singing, and dancing. The short lunch periods and lack of student participation was her answer to what she disliked about Maine.

She describes her most embarrassing situation as the time she was introduced to an acquaintance of the family. Since she is the oldest and shortest of the family, the person mistook her for the baby of the family.
Look - walking down the hall! He's got talent; he's got brains; he's "Super Schwenke."

This senior participated in Concert Band, Concert Orchestra, and the band staff. He was last year's assistant music director of V-Show and is this year's music director of V-Show.

This mild-mannered six footer fights a never ending battle against kids in V-Show, if they don't know what they're doing. He feels that "You can't wait for people to come to you. You have to find out their problems and then go to work on them!"

Bob Schwenke likes working as the music director of V-Show because, as he puts it, I enjoy music a great deal; and although it's a lot of work, it's a lot of fun.''

"The small musical facilities, the crowded halls when you are in a hurry, and people who rush me" are Bob's only complaints.

Although Bob doesn't know what field he plans to major in, he has plans to attend Coe College. Of course, "Super Schwenke" will always have time to rescue females in distress. Instead of rushing into dark alleys to change into his "Super Schwenke" suit, he uses the dark upstairs rotunda.

Bob had a most embarrassing moment last year after the Christmas formal. His brother had secretly borrowed $10 from Bob's wallet. When Bob went to pay the bill at the restaurant, he found himself a little short of cash. He didn't have time to change into his "Super Schwenke" suit and fly home, so he ended up borrowing money from his date.

In his spare time Bob enjoys bowling, wood-working, or working on his model railroad. He has considered a vocation in either pharmaceutical chemistry or economic research.

When asked his opinion concerning long hair on boys, Bob replied, "Personally, I dislike it; but if another guy wants to have long hair, it really doesn't bother me."
