| Tonight, before the varsity game with Glenbrook South at Maine East, the Maine West Dads' Club will be serving a spaghetti dinner in the Maine East cafeteria. Tickets for the 6 to 8 p.m. dinner are obtainable from M-Club members, the Bookstore, the cafeteria, and at the door at Maine East for $.50 for pre-high school students and $1. for adults. Proceeds will go to the athletic fund to buy team warm-up jackets. Mrs. Mary Kolar's active accelerated U.S. history classes will be taping a 10-minute dramatization of the sectional differences of the Civil War. Both Southern and Northern views of the War will be voiced by members of the class. They have devised, in three weeks, their own scenery, script, and costumes for the play. These same classes yesterday went on a field trip to see the classic, "Gone with the Wind." Mr. James Jenning's advanced placement U.S. history class accompanied them. Mr. Phillip Kardasz's three English III L classes had their wish fulfilled Wednesday when they visited the Cook County Jail and the House of Correction. The classes themselves decided where to visit by ballot. Mr. Kardasz showed his pleasure with his classes' choice when he commented, "It will be an experience." Despite recent trouble at the institution, all came back unharmed. The three classes were gone most of the day. |
On January 25 the Sophomores will be treated to a musical preview of the January 28 orchestra-choral concert. The seventh period preview will feature the orchestra performing such numbers as "Hello, Dolly," and "Outdoor Overture." Tickets for the Sunday concert will be sold at the door - $1 for adults and $.75 for students. The library now has a copy machine. This machine was placed into service by the Document Corporation and will remain in service as long as it makes enough money to justify its presence. Mr. Willis Lindeman, head librarian, hopes that the machine will be a great convenience to students and faculty members who have a limited amount of time that they can spend in the library. |
