Substitute Provides Diversion

What do we do when a substitute has to take over our class for a day or two? Do we plot how we can mentally derange the unsuspecting person by throwing pennies, paper airplanes, etc., sitting in another's seat, mimicking his way of speech, or talking and laughing incessantly?

The substitute who is called to replace a regular teacher is assuming an important responsibility to the class and to the regular teacher. He must carry out the lesson plan and in some way get
across what the class is supposed to learn. If students act like the substitute is inhuman or is only there for a big joke, no one will learn anything; and the substitute's time and effort is wasted.

Even though we may enjoy the diversion that a substitute provides, his job is the same as that of a regular teacher. He should be treated with the same amount of respect.
