Dr. Cheng's Talk Starts Program |
|||||||||
| On December 15, the history classes of Mr. William Kiddle played host to Dr. Paul Cheng, Consul General of Korea. Dr. Cheng spoke to the students about his native country, Korea, and showed a film about the life of the people in Korea. He also left pamphlets for the library. Dr. Cheng's visit came about as part of a new program, "I Witnessed a History." The program, when completed, will consist of a tape library on many historical subjects. Already Mr. Kiddle has contacted an 88-year-old gentleman who witnessed the Boxer Rebellion. |
Other tapes will pertain to World War I, as related by an Allied pilot of that war; D-Day, as related by Mr. Gaston Freeman; and a summary of a woman's experience in a Nazi concentration camp during World War II. Said Mr. Kiddle, "We hope to do more in the future, but we need people to share their experiences with us." When asked his opinion of the new program, Mr. Kiddle replied, "I think the students will enjoy it. With programs such as this one, history classes will be made interesting as well as worthwhile." The next topic to be discussed and recorded will be Russia. Mr. Kiddle hopes to find someone who has lived in the Soviet Union to speak about the life of the people in that country. |
