Gymnasts Push for Victory In Winless Season

Last Friday the musclemen played the tough gymnasts from Evanston, but the outcome of the home meet brought bad news. The varsity team lost by an 88-43 score, and the frosh-soph squad took a 95-37 setback.

Jim Janssens '69 saved an Evanston sweep on the trampoline by taking third place, but the Evanston team went on to sweep the horizontal bar.

Steve Fox '68 placed first, Bob Moehling '69 fifth, and Mark Forkins '69 sixth on the side horse. The still rings proved to be all Evanston as Jerry Allegretti '69 and Corcoran finished in the fourth and fifth spots. Rich Suda '68 saved another Evanston sweep by taking third place on the parallel bars.

The two other Warriors, Didier and Bob Suda '69, finished fifth and sixth. Warshall and Diedrickson of Evanston tied for first in tumbling, and Warrior Bill Johnson '69 placed second.
On December 20 the Maine West musclemen dropped their third straight home meet to Proviso West. The score was 81-51. They already lost to Oak Park 7160 on December 12 and to Forest View 85-47 on December 15.

The Maine West junior varsity gymnasts, coached by Mr. Anton Soucek, also dropped their meets against Oak Park, Forest View, and Proviso West.

Against Proviso Tony Kurtz '70, Bob McNabb '70, and Mike Sims '71 took the last three spots on the trampoline.

The only first place finish by a Warrior was achieved by Gary Yeiser '70.
