Intramural Reports

Offering all boys a chance to apply their athletic abilities in an organized sport program at Maine West, this year's intramural sports program, under the direction of Mr. Miley Hotchkiss, has been under way since the beginning of the year.

The intramural program can proudly boast of an excellent sports system. The school has a program that fits the needs of every boy.

Since 1962 a points system has been employed in an effort to determine the all-around intramural athlete of each class. Points are awarded for participation in each class and sport.
Right now the intramural program is offering new trophies to the boy who leads his class in the total, number of points earned. The program now offers trophies for both first and second place finalists. These awards are on display in the trophy case near the swimming pool entrance.

Individual championships are included in wrestling, weightlifting, tennis, table tennis, badminton, cross country, plus a free-throw shooting tournament.

Every boy who wins a class championship in an individual sport receives a felt emblem denoting the year and the sport. Members of a class championship team receive a similar award.
