| Maine West gymnasts competed against Maine South on Friday, January 26. Maine South stands undefeated with a score of 10 and 0. The MW Warriors then contended with Wheeling on Saturday, January 27. Wheeling also stands 10 and 0. Mr. Sidney Drain, varsity gymnastics coach, remarked, "This year sickness and injuries have handicapped the team." The Conference Championship Meet at Maine South on March 1 may have three MW contenders. The three gymnasts who may enter the competition are Rich Didier '69, Rich Suda '68, and Steve Fox '68. the schools participating in the meet are Maine South, Deerfield, Glenbrook North, Glenbrook South, Niles West, and Niles North. The gymnasts on the frosh-soph team which placed in a recent meet against Maine South were Mike Sims '71, Tom Jackson '71, Vick Petik '71, Dean Kolts '71, Mike Redmond '71, Rich Dancaster '71, Chuck Sulik '70, Ken Bean '71, Bob McNabb '70, Tony Kurtz '70, Bob Slipke '70, Bob Gillespie '70, Don Brennan '70, Rich Cordts '70, and Gary Yeiser '70. Coach Drain and Coach Anton Soucek both hope the MW gymnasts will be tough contenders in the Championship Meet, March 1. |
