| "Maine West has definitely changed. There don't seem to be as many parties held; there isn't a Bermuda day any more; and the attitude of the student body in general seems different," Dan Brinkman remarked. The brown-eyed, brown-haired swimmer continued, "The students are not more independent or individualistic, but you can't call them conformists either they just don't care." He has set three records-the 100 and 200-yard free style school record and the 400-yard free style relay school and pool records. He is also only one tenth of a second from the 50 yard free style record. Dan also possesses many ribbons and medals from District and Regional meets, as witness his swimming ability. |
Dan's loyalty lies with "the team rather than to myself." While he didn't have any suggestions for improving Maine as a whole, Dan did say that he would like to see "a more even distribution of athletic equipment. It seems that most of it goes to the crowd-drawing sports. Although we have been promised new swimming lanes for next year, this year's lanes are loose and therefore ineffective and nearly worthless." Dan plans to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana and enroll in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. |
