Music Boosters To Pow Wow

The seventh annual Pow Wow will take place on March 2 from 7 to 10:30 p.m. This annual event, being sponsored by the Music Boosters, will feature various activities - a floor show, swimming, and dancing.

A dollar donation will be the only admittance fee. This price entitles one to a chance at the door prizes which can be seen in the A-wing display window. The prizes include a tape recorder, a portable TV, a clock radio, a portable radio-phonograph, an AM-FM radio, and a Polaroid Swinger camera. The drawing will take place at 10:30 p.m. Ticket holders need not be present.

At 7:30 and 9 p.m. a floor show will be presented in the auditorium. Because of popular demand the show will feature hypnotist Ed Baron who appeared at last year's Pow Wow. This is the first time a professional act has ever appeared twice. Also to be seen will be the Show Band playing selections from the upcoming musical, Bye Bye Birdie, and other acts.

Refreshments will include hot dogs, potato chips, donuts, cold drinks, coffee, and popcorn. A bake sale will also be held. Various bakery goods, which will be donated by the mothers of the music students, will be on sale.
Dancing will be offered in the cafeteria. The Burgundy Trio will provide the music. This combo will be featured as well as the Pow Wow's show band.

Decorations in the cafeteria and game room will be furnished by Tri-M, which is an honorary music organization.

A game room consisting of booths will be set up in the B-wing gym. Various prizes ranging from kewpie dolls to teddy bears can be won.

Tickets went on sale February 4. Tickets may be purchased from music students or bought at the door.

Students selling tickets are eligible for cash prizes. Those selling 20 to 40 tickets may win one to two tickets to the musical, Man of La Mancha.

The six students who sell the winning tickets for the door prizes will win a transistor radio.

Proceeds from the Pow Wow will go directly to the Music department for concerts, summer camp scholarships, and music equipment.

Flyers have been sent out to junior high schools inviting the students to attend the Pow Wow. School dress is required.

Planning of the Pow Wow is being taken care of by the Executive Board of Music Boosters to which the parents of the music students belong.
