V-Show Reflects Students' Originality |
|||||||||
| "Reflections," this year's V Show, now takes its place in memory. Stage West '68 was presented in the auditorium February 8, 9 and 10 at 8 p.m. Preceding Act I, the V-Show band, led by the student music director, Bob Schwenke '68, performed 'Cabaret" and "Moments to Remember." Several acts included in Act I were "Echoes of Broadway" featuring vocal selections from "Sound of Music," "Playtown Place," a Dick, Jane, and Sally soap opera, "Sunrise, Sunset," a folking singing group, "Mellerdrammer" - a melodrama in rhyme, and "Flicker Funnies" featuring the Maine West dance chorus. Following a 10-minute intermission, the Maine West Show Band played "To Thee 0 Asphadel." Act II opened with "Repercussions," a drum presentation using unusual lighting effects. |
Other acts that completed the memory theme were "Mirror, Mirror Mouseketeers," "Peanuts," "Dream Girl of 1929," "Goldilocks and the Three Bears," and "Yes We Can Can." A finale to the song, "Cabaret," included the entire cast. Sets and backdrops used for this year's acts were an innovation by the Art Department. Four by six-foot cubes and oblongs were constructed and arranged to give the desired effects. These solid figures, painted on four sides, changed color as different types of lighting were used. The sets and ideas behind them were created by Gordon Shining '68, Tom Wilson '69, and Delann Olson '68 |
