Maine Loses To GB North |
|||||||||
| The Maine West varsity gym team dropped a close 70-62 decision to Glenbrook North last Friday. The musclemen, however, took several firsts in the meet. These first went to Steve Fox '68 on the side horse, Rich Suda '68 on the parallel bars, and a tie shared by Bill Johnson '68 in tumbling. Seconds were taken by Jim Janssens '69 on the tramp and high bars and Rick Didier '69 on the parallel bars. The gymnasts lost a close 69-63 meet to Niles West the previous week. Didier, Suda, and Bob Suda swept the parallel bars while Fox took a first on the side horse. Bryant Ways '69 took a first on the rings, and Janssens placed second on the trampoline. |
The team also lost an 83-49 decision at Niles North. The frosh-sophs have also been having bad luck. The Warriors fell to Glenbrook North 92-40, Niles West 831/2-481/2, and Niles North by the score of 84-48. The C.S.L. Conference meet will be held Friday, March 1, and Saturday, March 2, at Maine South. Coach Sidney Drain feels that the team should be somewhat successful there. "They're expecting us to be sleepy," he commented, "but we're going to surprise a lot of teams," |
