Stephen R. Wallace, 27, of Schaumburg, IL, formerly of Des Plaines, had a passion for the outdoors. He learned to scuba dive from his father and also enjoyed skiing and rock climbing with his wife. Mr. Wallace died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, in St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford, IL, after a rock climbing accident in the Mississippi Palisades State Park near Mt. Carroll, IL. Mr. Wallace, who was raised in Des Plaines, graduated from Maine West High School and went on to obtain a bachelor of science degree in computer science from Illinois State University, Normal, IL. Upon graduation, Mr. Wallace accepted a computer programming position at Safe Systems, a computer software company in Batavia. He later was promoted to VP of operations. In his spare time, Mr. Wallace scuba dived throughout the Bahamas and spent his weekends rock climbing with his wife, Meilke Terglane Wallace. Other survivors include his parents, James and Denise (nee Hullighan) Wallace; two sisters, Carrie and Jamie Wallace; and is grandparents, Denis and Martha Hullighan and Roy and Helen Wallace.
